We had our June 16th zoom meeting and our members selected Eagles Nest to receive our total donations in the amount of $6,800.00. Eagles Nest provides shelter for women and children during a time of crisis, and also provide counselling and educational programs including mental health support. Through the pandemic, Eagles Nest has also responded with support to a significant number of phone calls from youth and children struggling with depression, self-harm and anxiety. All services are free or at a minimal charge so that they are accessible to everyone. One of their key sources of income (40%) comes from the proceeds from their thrift store in Freelton, “Rescued and Restored”. Unfortunately the covid lockdowns have significantly reduced revenue and so our donations come at a time when they are needed most.
