September 18, 2019; Dolly Parton launched the Imagination Library program in 1996 because she wanted to make sure that children have books in their homes, regardless of family income. This program sends one brand new, age-appropriate book in the mail each month to an enrolled child until their fifth birthday. Every child will receive the classic The Little Engine That Could at the beginning of the program and will receive Look Out Kindergarten Here I Come when they graduate the program.

Hamilton's Imagination Library is in partnership with the Eva Rothwell Centre and funded with private donations and grants from Mohawk College. It is devoted to inspiring a love of reading in the hearts of children.

During our meeting on September 18th, our members chose to make their donations to this worthwhile cause, with a generous total of $6,800.00. The donations from our Flamborough-Waterdown chapter of 100 Women Who Care will go directly to expanding the Hamilton program into our local area.
