We had our last meeting for 2026 on Wednesday, September 16th. We had 43 members attending in person and the charity selected was Migrants Matter. Migrants Matter is a dedicated group of volunteers that coordinate the efforts of community members, church groups and business leaders to provide support to nearly 500 agricultural workers here in the Flamborough community. The group coordinates the donation of bikes, clothing and household goods, alongside the provision of translation services, advocacy work and conflict resolution help.
Doris Valade had the opportunity to present the donations for a total of $8,150.00 to Terry Sciamonte along with many of our local farm workers. They were all together at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Waterdown on Sunday afternoon (Oct 4th) for a special mass followed by a wonderful Mexican dinner. When Doris arrived to meet with Terry, all of the farm workers joined together for a wonderful group picture (see attached) in appreciation for our support!
So a big thank you goes out to each of our members for your donation, as together we really do make a difference in our Flamborough-Waterdown community.
